Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu has urged Formula 1 not to raise the budget cap when addressing problems with the 2027 power unit regulations. He argued that any cost increases would undermine the purpose of the spending limits.
Komatsu highlighted the high costs already associated with the current power unit rules. He said additional expenses of five to 10 million dollars per team for 2027 changes would move in the wrong direction. The team boss stressed the need to simplify and reduce costs across the board instead of allowing further increases to the cap, which is already higher this year.
