Hong Kong announces first multi-sensory XR film at Filmart

Veteran director and cinematographer Kwok-man Keung unveiled “Harbour Dreams: Hong Kong XR Adventure” at this year’s FilMart. Described as the city’s first 6D multi-sensory film, the 20-minute experience integrates VR, AR, motion, and scent technologies. It allows audiences to engage with Hong Kong’s iconic landmarks through sight, sound, touch, wind, and atmosphere.

Hong Kong cinema is advancing into immersive technologies with the announcement of “Harbour Dreams: Hong Kong XR Adventure”. Presented exclusively at FilMart, the project is produced by Sil-Metropole Organisation and Infinity Zone Technology. The experience guides viewers through key sites including Victoria Harbour, the Peak Tram, Wong Tai Sin Temple, the Tian Tan Buddha, and the Avenue of Stars. Virtual host Louis Cheung leads the journey alongside Anan the Panda, a custom mascot in themed costumes that promotes interactive engagement with the city’s history and traditions. Local group Supper Moment delivers a virtual concert set in the Kai Tak Sports Park, with opportunities for game-based participation by audiences. Kwok-man Keung, who joined the film industry in 1984, has contributed to over 100 productions in film, television, web series, commercials, and music specials. Notable credits include cinematography on Tsui Hark’s “The Blade” (1995), collaborations with directors Derek Yee and Wong Jing, and directing “Bullet & Brain” (2007) featuring Eric Tsang and Anthony Chau-Sang Wong. His work has received nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards and Taiwan Golden Horse Awards. In 2023, Keung established Infinity Zone Technology to integrate VR, AR, MR, and AI into storytelling, particularly for cultural tourism applications.
