Jean Garcia and Arra San Agustin lead Filipino film The Blind Cook

Cameras have begun rolling on The Blind Cook (Kusinerang Bulag), a new Filipino drama directed by Hugo “Boboy” Yonzon III. Jean Garcia and Arra San Agustin star as leads, with production underway by Bente Productions.

Principal photography started on The Blind Cook, a Filipino feature written and directed by Hugo “Boboy” Yonzon III. The leads are Jean Garcia and Arra San Agustin. Jean Garcia appears alongside her daughter Jennica Garcia, who play a fictional mother and daughter duo. Additional cast members include Victor Neri, known from Baler and BuyBust, Samantha Samarita, and Madeleine Nicolas. Executive producers are Marilyn Magampon Manila and Cyrene Grace Lubigan. The official synopsis describes the story of Luz, a young chef who loses her sight after a tragedy yet persists with her family’s restaurant, finding that resilience involves trusting senses beyond sight. Shooting locations are Iloilo City and Batanes Island. This project is the second from Bente Productions, after their 2025 Boracay-set romance I Remember You, which starred JC Santos and Valeen Montenegro. Bente Productions launched its slate at Filmart, an event ending March 20. Director Yonzon stated: “In Filipino culture, food is how people gather and care for one another. It’s how affection is expressed in the family. Life brings challenges to everyone. The real story is how people respond when something difficult happens. That’s where resilience begins.”
