Residents of Kokuro village in Turkana County reported the theft of more than 100 donkeys through a digital system and received prompt help from security officers.
Last month armed raiders stole more than 100 donkeys from Kokuro village on the Kenya-Ethiopia border. Instead of a lengthy search, residents reported the incident through the Donkey Digital Information Hub.
The information reached security officers quickly and the donkeys were recovered. The Punda Wangu app uses artificial intelligence to register each donkey by photo and unique marks for easy identification.
The system also lets herders report diseases and cruelty free of charge. IPDR Director General Mariko Akileng said the platform aims to link herders directly with police for swift action.
