Restaurant chain La Casa de Toño is exploring a possible sale for more than 400 million dollars to fund expansion in Mexico, the United States and Latin America. The process has BBVA México as exclusive financial adviser. No agreement has been confirmed so far.
The company, founded by Marco Antonio Campos in 1978 as a street stall selling quesadillas in Mexico City’s Clavería neighborhood, currently operates between 60 and 81 branches in the Valle de México. The business began under the name Las Dos Poblanas and adopted its current name after popular usage among customers.
According to investor presentations reviewed by Bloomberg, the transaction could reach a valuation of more than eight times the chain’s adjusted earnings. Grupo Gigante is among those showing interest, though the company and the group declined to comment.
The stated goal is to speed up growth beyond the Valle de México. Sources consulted say shareholders have received repeated proposals in recent years, but negotiations remain in the analysis stage.
