Mobigame plans to challenge a new trademark claim from Edge Games CEO Tim Langdell over the word Edge. The mobile studio aims to keep the dispute public and document the case fully.
Mobigame CEO David Papazian stated that the company has dealt with Langdell for more than 17 years. He described Langdell as a trademark troll and said Mobigame will seek full compensation if evidence supports its position.
The current claim involves an earlier mobile version of the 1986 game Bobby Bearing. Papazian noted differences in distribution between regions and plans to contact the original creator for testimony.
Langdell previously secured the removal of Mobigame's game Edge from app stores in 2009. That earlier dispute ended in 2010 after a settlement involving Electronic Arts and Mirror's Edge.
Mobigame is now financially stronger and intends to pursue discovery of documents and records rather than settle privately.
