Indonesia's traffic police report rising vehicles leaving Jakarta on day five of Operasi Ketupat 2026, with 28 percent of the projected 3.5 million vehicles departed. Overall traffic remains manageable despite some congestion.
CIKAMPEK — Indonesia's National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) notes increasing vehicles departing Jakarta entering day five of Operasi Ketupat 2026. Korlantas chief Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho states about 28 percent of the projected 3.5 million vehicles have left the capital toward Trans Jawa, West Java, Cikupa Banten, and Sumatra, based on data up to March 16, 2026, or H-5 Eid. The press conference occurred at Pos Terpadu Operasi Ketupat Lodaya 2026 of West Java Police, Rest Area KM 57 Jakarta-Cikampek Toll, on March 17, 2026. “But up to now, traffic conditions are quite controlled. There is density, there is an increase in flow, but with work from anywhere, departures are more spread out,” Agus said. Traffic management includes engineering like contraflow and one-way if volumes rise. Korlantas plans national one-way from KM 70 on March 18 from 10-12 noon, extendable to KM 414 if needed. West Java Police chief Irjen Pol Rudi Setiawan deploys traffic relief teams, iftar distribution, and sahur meals, involving police and TNI. Security focuses on five clusters: toll roads, national arterials, ferry ports, worship places, and tourist areas. The Transportation Ministry monitors using analytics. Meanwhile, Jakarta's congestion dropped to 28 percent with average speed 27.3 km/h, signaling smoother city traffic due to early mudik.
