Polda Metro Jaya postponed the follow-up interrogation of beauty doctor Richard Lee, named as a suspect, on January 19, 2026, due to his unfit health condition for legal proceedings. The postponement was requested by Lee himself over health complaints. Police will announce the new schedule later.
The follow-up interrogation of Richard Lee as a suspect in an alleged consumer protection violation case was canceled on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Polda Metro Jaya headquarters. Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that Lee requested the postponement. "Info from the investigators, the suspect requested a delay because his condition is still not fit," said Budi Hermanto. He added that police would provide updates on the next schedule.
Lee was named a suspect on December 15, 2025, related to police report number LPB 7317/XII/2024/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya. The case involves alleged violations of Article 435 jo. Article 138 paragraph (2) of Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health, with a maximum penalty of 12 years imprisonment and a fine of Rp5 billion. Additionally, Article 62 paragraph (1) jo. Article 8 paragraph (1) and Article 9 paragraph (1) of Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection, with a maximum of 5 years imprisonment and a fine of Rp2 billion. The case concerns beauty products and treatments offered by him.
Previously, on January 7, 2026, Lee underwent a marathon interrogation lasting nearly 10 hours at Polda Metro Jaya, starting at 1:00 PM WIB. The process was temporarily halted for rest at 6:00 PM and resumed at 7:00 PM. However, around 10:00 PM WIB, he complained of feeling unwell, leading to the interrogation being stopped at midnight. Head of the Public Information Sub-Division of Bidhumas Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Reonald Simanjuntak, explained that the previous session had only reached question 73, with plans to continue questions 74 to 85 along with further developments.
This postponement raises questions about the progress of the legal process, though police emphasize that Lee's absence is due to valid reasons.
