The office of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has been asked to limit his entourage to the minimum required during a three-day visit to Sikkim. The request comes ahead of the state's Statehood Day on May 16. Scindia's team travels with just one vehicle.
The directive follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for fuel conservation. Scindia, a Z-category protectee, has long avoided elaborate convoys and pilot cars. He typically travels in a single vehicle both in the capital and elsewhere.
The three-day trip to Sikkim is scheduled for Statehood Day on May 16. Officials asked the minister's office to keep the group as small as possible given the single-vehicle setup.
Scindia is reported to have followed such practices since the start of his public life. The move aligns with broader efforts to reduce fuel use during official travel.
