Team Liquid's professional World of Warcraft guild thought it had claimed victory over the final boss in the new March on Quel’Danas raid, only for a secret phase to revive the enemy. The team regrouped and successfully completed the challenge, securing the world first. The raid was added to the game on March 31 as part of the Midnight expansion.
Over the weekend, players from Team Liquid pushed through the March on Quel’Danas raid in World of Warcraft. They reached the final boss, L’ura, and reduced her health to zero after a tough fight. Guild members celebrated, with some standing up or shouting in excitement, believing they had finished the raid first among competing teams. No achievement appeared, however, and an NPC exclaimed, “This cannot be!” as L’ura’s health bar refilled for a secret final phase. The boss then wiped the raid group around 5:30 p.m. EST on April 6. Liquid raid leader Maximum explained the mix-up in a video: “Usually, you can tell when you’re at the end of a boss... But on this fight, I think the reason we celebrated is because zero percent was so hard to get to that it felt like a final thing, right? It felt like the end.” He noted rumors of a secret phase from datamining leaks but said such information is not always reliable. By 5:53 p.m. EST, Team Liquid had rallied, defeated the secret phase, and killed L’ura for good, earning the world-first kill before other guilds. Maximum reflected on the difficulty: “I don’t know, man. I’m ready to be over it…” The guild shared a compilation video capturing the dramatic reactions.
