Tesla expanded its Model Y lineup in Europe on January 9, 2026, with the debut of the Standard Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant. Announced via the company's official social media account on X by Tesla Europe & Middle East, the new model boasts 657 km of WLTP-estimated range, making it the most efficient Model Y to date at 12.7 kWh per 100 km. It also offers 2,118 liters of cargo volume, appealing to families seeking spacious electric vehicles.
The Standard Long Range starts at €44,990, positioning it 1-9% cheaper than the comparable Premium Long Range RWD, depending on the country. Deliveries are set to begin in the coming weeks. This variant builds on the base Standard Model Y, introduced in late 2025, which sacrificed features like a rear screen, ambient lighting, ventilated seats, and premium audio to lower costs. The base model provides 534 km WLTP range, while the Long Range adds a larger battery for an extra 123 km without increasing the price dramatically.
Performance includes 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h, supported by up to 175 kW fast charging. Launched initially in the Netherlands, the model tests European demand for extended range over luxury features.
