Toronto-based designer Warren Steven Scott has launched his first menswear collection. The line draws directly from the stage style of Italian pop singer Marco Mengoni.
Scott, who is Indigenous and from the Nlaka’pamux Nation in British Columbia, visited Italy last year to attend Mengoni’s concerts in Bologna, Rome, and Florence. He admired the singer’s monochromatic outfits with embellishments, many styled by Lorenzo Posocco.
The collection titled “The Place Where We Went Together, Remember?” went on sale on July 2. It features wrap-tied blouses, embroidered sequin coats, and convertible trousers priced between 200 and 2,500 US dollars.
Scott said the garments are meant for special occasions and stage-like moments in everyday life. He hopes the pieces allow wearers to enjoy dressing up with movement and visual impact.
