WatchOS 27 set to feature slimmed-down Watch Ultra face

Apple's upcoming WatchOS 27 will introduce a simplified version of the Modular Ultra watch face designed for standard Apple Watches, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. The new face removes central and bezel complications for a cleaner look. This comes ahead of WWDC 2026, with WatchOS 26.5 adding a Pride Luminance face in June.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported in his Power On newsletter that Apple is preparing several new watch faces for WatchOS 27, including a stripped-down take on the Modular Ultra face from the Watch Ultra lineup. The redesign eliminates the large central complication, three smaller ones above the clock, and bezel information. It features a large clock occupying the top two-thirds of the display, with three small complication slots below for glanceable info on standard Apple Watches. Simplifying the face aims to make it more approachable for non-Ultra models, Gurman noted. Apple has not confirmed the details, and a company representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment. With WWDC 2026 approaching, attention centers on major updates like iOS 27's integration of Google Gemini-powered Siri to bolster Apple's AI features, though WatchOS rumors have been sparse. Users of current Apple Watches will receive the Pride Luminance watch face and matching band with WatchOS 26.5, timed for Pride month in June.
