Agusan del Sur has unveiled details of its logo for the 2026 Palarong Pambansa, highlighting local heritage through three symbolic elements.
The province is hosting the 66th edition of the multisport event under the theme Palaro Tu AgSur. Officials said the name honors the Manobo indigenous group by incorporating the term tu.
The logo features the Agusan River on the left side of the letter A. The river stretches about 350 kilometers and supports agriculture, transport, and flood control in the area. It also includes the Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, which is on the Philippines tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage status.
On the right side are patterns drawn from suyam, a traditional Manobo embroidery style using red, black, yellow, and white threads. These three patterns stand for Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. In the center is the silhouette of the Golden Tara, a 12-centimeter, 1.8-kilogram gold artifact found in 1917 and now kept at the Field Museum in Chicago.
