Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has denied reports linking Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo to the Ksh154.2 billion JKIA expansion project.
Speaking at a press briefing in Nairobi on Thursday, Chirchir said IMC Construction neither submitted a bid nor formed part of any consortium in the tender process.
He stressed that every step of the bidding process was undertaken fairly and transparently in compliance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act.
Chirchir disputed media reports citing a Ksh375 billion cost, saying the government does not anticipate the contract award to exceed Ksh154.2 billion.
He disclosed that the government is working with Trade Development Bank and the Africa Finance Corporation as lead arrangers for financing, with works expected to be completed within three years after the contract is awarded.
