Cyan has published a teaser trailer for a cancelled Myst game prototype called Project Anglerfish. The studio shared the footage as a public farewell to the project after four months of work over a year ago.
Development director Hannah Gamiel and creative director Eric A. Anderson presented the material in a video titled 'A path not taken' on the Cyan YouTube channel.
Gamiel stated that the prototype is not in active development and will not be released in its current form. The team created the trailer originally for publisher viewing only.
The project was cancelled for a variety of reasons, according to the pair. Anderson noted that Cyan continues to develop new games and experiences within the Myst universe.
The trailer depicts puzzles set in subterranean pathways and hidden crevices as the player searches for a mysterious book on behalf of a well-dressed benefactor.
