Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu inaugurated Delhi’s first women-only police station in Subzi Mandi on Friday.
The station in Subzi Mandi, North district, will investigate all crimes against women and children, including domestic violence, dowry harassment, sexual assault and POCSO cases.
It has a sanctioned strength of 57 personnel. Nearly 60 percent of the staff are women. The station house officer and assistant commissioner of police are also women.
The L-G said success would be measured by the confidence it inspires among women and girls, not merely by the number of cases. Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha referred to the four 'P' strategy.
