Federal administrative law judge arrested after butter knife attack on wife

A 79-year-old federal administrative law judge was arrested in Miami after allegedly cutting his wife with a butter knife during a domestic dispute. Gerald Foulds faces one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing bodily harm to an elderly person. The incident took place at the couple's home early Sunday morning.

Miami police responded to a domestic violence call at the residence on SW 17th Street around 6 a.m. on June 1. The victim told officers that an argument escalated when Foulds grabbed her shoulder and cut her left arm with a butter knife from the kitchen counter. She fled to a neighbor's house before seeking treatment at a nearby urgent care facility. Foulds, who has served as a Medicare administrative law judge for 21 years, was found at the home and taken into custody. During an interview he denied the allegations. Court records show the couple has been married more than 14 years and have no children together. At a bond hearing on June 2 before Judge Mindy Glazer, Foulds requested release on his own recognizance but was denied. Glazer set bond at $2,500, which was paid, and ordered that the victim not be removed from the home. The next hearing date has not yet been scheduled.
