Attendees at Anime Expo in Los Angeles watched the premiere episode of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 last week. Early reactions from viewers and critics have been largely positive ahead of the Netflix debut scheduled for fall 2026.
Roughly 6,000 people saw the episode at Crypto.com Arena during the event. Gizmodo writer Isaiah Colbert called the debut "both a sequel that expands itself outward, weaving a bigger, bolder, ambitious tale, while also feeling viscerally intimate and small-scale" and described it as "exhilarating".
Polygon's Ryan Epps highlighted its darker tone along with strong visuals and audio. He noted the first chapter is "packed with incredible colors, gorgeous framing, and punchy sound design".
Social media feedback echoed these views, with some observers comparing the tone to films by Michael Scorsese. CD Projekt Red global PR director Radek Grabowski thanked the crowd for avoiding recordings to prevent spoilers.
The screening coincided with Cyberpunk 2077 surpassing 40 million sales and hitting a one-year peak of 101,558 concurrent players on Steam.
