A forest fire near the trade fair grounds in Nuremberg has been brought under control, police said. The blaze broke out on the evening of July 10 and affected around 3,000 square meters.
The fire was reported at 21:45. Firefighters used drones and brought the blaze under control after about three hours. Embers continue to be extinguished.
A nearby campsite and an open-air concert were evacuated as a precaution. The concert was halted during the encore due to heavy smoke. Around 20 to 30 people from the campsite were moved to safety.
No one was injured. Criminal police are now investigating the cause. Authorities warned of smoke in southern Nuremberg. The risk of forest fires remains high in the region due to dryness.
