Fortnite's return to the Apple App Store triggered a massive surge in downloads last week, nearly matching its 2018 launch performance on the platform.
The game recorded 3.4 million downloads globally during its return to iOS devices, according to data from AppMagic shared by GamesIndustry.biz. This figure placed the week as Fortnite's fourth-strongest ever and came close to the original launch-week total of 3.7 million downloads from 2018.

Epic Games announced layoffs affecting more than 1,000 employees on March 24, citing a downturn in Fortnite engagement that has led to spending exceeding revenue.
