Guillermo del Toro returns to Cannes with restored Pan's Labyrinth

Guillermo del Toro presented a newly restored 4K version of Pan's Labyrinth at the Cannes Film Festival. The screening opened the Cannes Classics selection on May 12.

Del Toro recalled the original 2006 premiere, which ended with a record 23-minute standing ovation. He described the moment as the largest and most emotional applause of his career. The filmmaker credited Alfonso Cuarón with helping him accept the outpouring of support during the event in the Debussy Theatre.
