In Surabaya, Gus Ipul stated that Sekolah Rakyat procurement must be transparent and follow President Prabowo Subianto's directives. "I have told those responsible, there must be no lobbying, no assignments, no engineering, no deviations in the procurement process," he said, as quoted by ANTARA on May 3, 2026.
He explained the budget follows open procurement and official government tender mechanisms, potentially lowering costs. Gus Ipul and the Deputy Social Minister commit to reporting any project irregularities. "If there is a violation, if there is manipulation, if there is collusion, my deputy and I commit to being the first to report it," he affirmed.
The program targets 97 permanent buildings operational by July 2026, constructed by the Public Works Ministry across regions, with 67 sites on schedule. Each building accommodates 1,000 students from SD, SMP, and SMA levels, equipped with dormitories, libraries, laboratories, UKS, and extracurricular facilities.
The schools use direct outreach for out-of-school children, beggars, scavengers, or those from the poorest decile one and two families, without open registration. Student families receive social aid, skills training, JKN coverage, unfit housing programs, and encouragement to join Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih cooperatives. This year, over 400 students graduated, including 11 SMA students projected for college or skilled work.
