Heatwave leaves TGV traffic normal but cancels one Intercités train in three

SNCF is running normal TGV service over the July 14 long weekend despite the heatwave while cutting one in three Intercités trains on three routes.

SNCF Voyageurs plans 3700 TGVs for the weekend and expects to carry 1.9 million clients until July 14, including one million departing from Paris. No TGVs will be cancelled.

On the Intercités lines Paris-Clermont, Paris-Limoges-Toulouse and the Marseille-Toulouse route, one train in three is withdrawn during the hottest hours because of ageing rolling stock. All night Intercités services run as normal.

The company is chartering coaches and adding extra trains to improve the service. TER trains run to schedule, with possible marginal adaptations in the hottest regions.
