Eastern Court on Monday dropped an assault charge against domestic helper Linne Pramis Pesimo, 48, and placed her on a three-year bind-over order.
The incident took place on March 20. Pesimo slapped her employer’s eight-year-old daughter once at their Wan Chai home after the girl refused to eat dinner. The mother, a single parent, was resting in a bedroom and reported the matter to police the next day after the girl sought her help.
Hospital doctors found redness on the girl’s right cheek. Pesimo had been charged with assault by those in charge of a child or young person.
Prosecutors told Principal Magistrate David Cheung Chi-wai that the victim’s mother had agreed to withdraw the charge. Cheung warned the defendant not to commit similar offences during the bind-over period or face a HK$2,000 penalty.
