Kenya's Junior Starlets secured a 2-0 win over South Africa in the first leg of the final qualifying round for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
The match took place yesterday evening at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria. Defender Faith Boke scored in the 14th minute and striker Brenda Achieng’ added the second goal in the 61st minute.
The team coached by Mildred Cheche needs only a draw or a one-goal loss at home to qualify. The return leg is scheduled for this Sunday at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
South Africa must win by three goals or more to advance. The finals will be held in Morocco between October 17 and November 8.
