A man in his 40s has been charged with murdering a woman in her 60s who was found dead in her home outside Katrineholm in January. The prosecutor says the man is also suspected of attempted arson.
The man and the woman had known each other for several years as friends. According to prosecutor Fredrik Beijar the man admitted hitting the woman with his fist after she became angry, but he denies that the blows caused her death.
The indictment states that a weapon, possibly a square marble stone or decorative plate, was used. The man completely denies the arson charge and says he does not know what it is about.
Police arrested the man shortly after the discovery in January and he was later detained. He has previous convictions for drug offences.
