The match took place in Rotterdam. India came back from behind twice but could not prevent the hosts from scoring the winner through Tijmen Reyenga in the 40th minute.
Dilpreet Singh scored for India in the ninth minute and Sukhjeet Singh equalised again in the 33rd minute. Miles Bukkens and Koen Bijen scored the other goals for the Netherlands.
Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said Manpreet had reached a significant milestone reflecting dedication and consistency. Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh called it a testament to his consistency and role in India's resurgence.
India's next match is scheduled against Germany on June 17.
