The Ministry of Mines and Energy announced an electrical interconnection with Venezuela through Vichada. The announcement came during the socialization of the El Merey Solar Plant, which will have 5 megawatts of capacity.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy revealed progress on a binational electrical interconnection with Venezuela from the department of Vichada. The measure aims to strengthen service reliability and promote economic development in the region.
During the socialization of the El Merey Solar Plant, Minister Edwin Palma stressed that Vichada will become a strategic territory for energy integration. The plant will deliver 5 megawatts and benefit more than 1,600 users in Puerto Carreño.
Governor Fulberto Guevara described the announcement as a historic date for Puerto Carreño. He noted that it will resolve energy problems that have affected residents' well-being for decades.
In addition, four completed solar projects were reported serving 1,767 users and more than 6,185 people. Two other projects are underway for 359 users and six initiatives have resources from the Sistema General de Regalías totaling more than 40.797 million pesos.
