Nana Visitor, who portrayed Major Kira Nerys in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, has shared her desire for a crossover with Kate Mulgrew's Captain Kathryn Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager. In an interview with Screen Rant, Visitor highlighted the potential clash between the strong-willed characters. She imagines dynamic interactions that could shake up the shows.
Visitor expressed enthusiasm for working with Mulgrew, praising her command presence. “I would love to work with Star Trek: Voyager star Kate Mulgrew,” she told Screen Rant. “She has the whole captain command aura and presence about her, and that would be a real upheaval to the show. How would that work out? I see sparks all over the place, and with Captain Sisko. Not sure they'd get along. Those are two alphas. I think that would be really interesting.” Visitor speculated on tensions between Janeway and Captain Benjamin Sisko, played by Avery Brooks, on Deep Space Nine. The actor appeared as Kira for seven seasons on the series. Crossovers occurred occasionally among 1990s Star Trek shows, a tradition that persists today. However, Voyager's premise made such a meeting unlikely. The ship's crew was transported to the distant Delta Quadrant while pursuing Maquis rebels, keeping Janeway far from Deep Space Nine for all seven seasons. The Voyager pilot included a Deep Space Nine segment, featuring only Armin Shimerman's Quark. Avery Brooks has largely retired from acting since Deep Space Nine ended. Visitor recently reprised Kira in season 3 of Star Trek: Lower Decks, confirming her continued leadership of the station. Mulgrew returned as Janeway in the animated Star Trek: Prodigy.
