Former Alabama coach Nick Saban submitted a character reference letter for cornerback Terrion Arnold, who was released by the Detroit Lions following his arrest on felony charges.
Arnold was released by the Lions on Monday after his arrest last week on four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. The charges stem from a February incident in Largo, Florida, where Arnold and associates allegedly targeted three men they believed responsible for an earlier robbery. Arnold was not present during the assault but watched via live stream, according to police.
Arnold secured a $1 million bond with conditions including confinement to his Tallahassee residence and no contact with co-defendants. He faces potential life imprisonment if convicted.
Saban's letter praised Arnold's character over six years, noting his respect and kindness toward the Saban family. It asked the court to consider his positive impact while acknowledging the seriousness of the charges.
Arnold played 26 games for Alabama, recording 108 tackles and six interceptions before being drafted 24th overall by Detroit in 2024.
