Novak Djokovic warns rivals he is better prepared for Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic believes he enters Wimbledon in improved physical condition after a challenging clay season. The 24-time major champion spoke ahead of his Monday opener at the All England Club.

Djokovic told reporters that his fitness has improved since the French Open. “I think I’m better prepared here than I was at Roland Garros,” he said. He added that grass requires less physical effort than clay.

The Serb skipped grass-court warm-up events for the eighth straight year. He last competed at Queen’s Club in 2018 and has won Wimbledon three times since then.

London’s ongoing heatwave could affect play. Djokovic noted that higher temperatures speed up the grass while making balls larger and softer.

His draw offers an early path before a possible fourth-round meeting with Joao Fonseca. A semifinal against defending champion Jannik Sinner also remains possible.
