The National Transport and Safety Authority has introduced new steps to verify imported vehicle logbooks before local registration. The measures integrate with Kenya TradeNet and KRA systems ahead of the e-Logbook rollout.
The National Transport and Safety Authority has outlined new measures for verifying that imported vehicles have legitimate logbooks from their country of origin. Importers must submit documents through integrated systems with Kenya TradeNet and the Kenya Revenue Authority customs platform.
NTSA will validate foreign logbooks against approved sources before issuing a Kenyan e-logbook. The authority stated that the process cannot be bypassed.
The digital system is scheduled to launch on June 10 2026. It will allow free access to logbooks via the eCitizen portal and complete vehicle transfers in one working day. Officers will use QR codes for instant checks during traffic stops.
