The Office of the Vice President has asked to bring its own refrigerator, coffee maker and caterer to the holding area for the Senate impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Senate Secretary Renato Bantug said the requests came during a Thursday visit by OVP chief of staff Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez. Bantug confirmed approval for the equipment and caterer, noting the defense team has been assigned 45 seats in the Senate plenary hall.
Impeachment court spokesperson Regie Tongol said a holding room has been set aside for Duterte should she attend. Bantug described the requests as administrative and not unusual, adding that the prosecution has also hired its own caterer.
Lopez is scheduled to appear before the court on July 13 and July 14 after being subpoenaed. Duterte attended the Senate on Tuesday but did not enter the trial proceedings. She faces impeachment charges including misuse of confidential funds and making grave threats.
