The provincial court of badajoz opened today the trial against david sánchez perez-castejón and ten other defendants over prevarication and influence peddling in the 2017 hiring.
The prosecution opposed nullifying the case but backed the statute of limitations for the charge of accepting an illegal appointment against david sánchez. It also supported excluding miguel ángel gallardo from answering for an adviser's appointment.
Sánchez's defense claimed a prospective investigation based on press clippings and sought nullity over rights violations. The court rejected the recusal of its members and will rule on preliminary requests on monday.
The trial will continue with testimony from 42 witnesses and last at least until june 9 and 10. David sánchez entered the building through the back door to avoid the media.
