Sacai presented its spring 2027 menswear collection in a runway show that mixed music from Soul II Soul with new collaborations. Designer Chitose Abe focused on menswear while including a few women’s looks from the resort 2027 line.
The show featured remixed tracks from the 1980s group Soul II Soul, including “Keep On Movin’” and “Back to Life,” blended with Strauss’s “Blue Danube.” Abe collaborated with Jazzie B and his son Mahlon Romeo on garments printed with archive images from the collective’s London sessions.
Abe worked with Brooks Brothers on updated navy blazers that added extra layers, slits, and lapels. She also partnered with Birkenstock on hybrid footwear that combined Arizona straps with Boston clogs, some adorned with motifs by tattoo artist Dr. Woo.
The collection included deconstructed neckwear made from striped silks, tassels, and corsage styles. Pants featured large outward pouch pockets, and fireman clasps appeared across overshirts, jumpers, and a trench coat.
Abe told the audience backstage that the men’s-focused format allowed a fuller view of design iterations. She said the goal was to remove conventional rules and create something new with an authentic language.
