Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced plans to reduce the minimum age for entry into legislative bodies, aiming to give Gen Z more political opportunities.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said on Sunday that he would propose reducing the age for entry into the legislature to 21 years. He plans to discuss the idea with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge during his visit to New Delhi on Monday.
The Telangana government intends to pass a resolution in the Assembly in August calling for the change. Reddy also suggested lowering the minimum age for Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council membership to 25 from the current 30.
Reddy said he would request Rahul Gandhi to raise the matter with INDIA Bloc partners and introduce it as a private members' bill in Parliament if needed.
