AEW owner Tony Khan has provided an update on luchador Mistico, who was forced to miss the Redemption pay-per-view due to injury. The star has not competed since an attack at Arena Mexico on July 17.
Khan said he had originally planned for Mistico to appear at Redemption but held him back after concerns about his condition. "I had planned for Mistico to be involved in this show," Khan said during the post-Redemption media scrum. "And then, there was concern that he might have to be held back, and then we did end up holding him back."
Khan expressed optimism that Mistico could return for Grand Slam Mexico. The wrestler has been out of action since the July 17 attack by Averno, Euforia and Mephisto at CMLL's event in Arena Mexico.
It is believed the incident may lead to a mask versus hair match between Mistico and Averno at the CMLL Aniversario in September, though that remains unconfirmed.
