A thunderstorm with strong winds hit Järlåsa west of Uppsala at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Railway traffic and several roads were closed.
Fallen trees have had a major impact on traffic, the Swedish Transport Administration said. Roads 571 south of Järlåsa and 620 north of the town are affected.
Railway traffic between Sala and Uppsala Central has been fully closed since 5:15 p.m. due to a power failure caused by trees on the tracks. The Swedish Transport Administration estimates that train services could resume at 6 a.m. on Friday morning.
Stations that may be affected include Arlanda Central, Stockholm Central and Uppsala Central.
