A man in his 20s attacked the municipal district administration's reception in Tensta, Stockholm, with an axe, smashing glass windows. Staff evacuated to other parts of the building as police swiftly arrested the man on site. No one was injured in the incident.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, in Tensta, northwest Stockholm. A man in his 20s entered the reception of the municipal district administration's office, which includes social services, and used an axe to smash several glass windows. Police were alerted at 2:13 p.m. and arrived just four minutes later.
"When we arrived, only the perpetrator was left in the reception. The staff had evacuated to other parts of the premises," says Daniel Wikdahl, spokesperson for Stockholm police. Officers arrested the man without difficulty on site.
The man is now suspected of serious illegal threat, serious damage, and serious violation of the knife law. Police declined to comment on the details of the threat. No one was injured, and staff were instructed to remain at their workstations until police gave the all-clear.
Lina Isaksson, communications strategist at Järva district administration, confirms that support is being offered to the affected staff. "The staff in the building were advised not to leave their workplaces until police confirmed the operation was over. Staff who were present have been offered support," she writes in an email. She adds that nothing similar has occurred in Tensta before.
The reception will remain closed indefinitely, with visitors directed to the other reception in Kista.
