Brittney Spencer to open for Bob Dylan this summer

Country singer-songwriter Brittney Spencer announced she will open for Bob Dylan on four East Coast dates in July. The opportunity stems from a 2024 encounter on tour when Dylan visited her dressing room, praised her songs, and asked for her phone number. Spencer shared the details on Instagram, joking that the booking is his way of calling back.

In the summer of 2024, Brittney Spencer performed at amphitheater shows alongside Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Bob Dylan as part of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour. One evening after her set, Dylan stopped by her dressing room. Spencer recounted on Instagram: “[He] told me he really liked my songs... He was so detailed about it all that I could actually barely handle it. He asked for my number. I wrote it on a napkin & gave it to him. He didn’t call lol. I think this is his way of calling now & I’m picking up on the first ring.” An accompanying video showed Dylan watching from the side of the stage during her performance. Spencer will open for Dylan and Jimmie Vaughan at mid-July concerts in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, and Gilford, New Hampshire. These shows form part of Dylan's expanded U.S. summer tour, starting June 4 in Troutdale, Oregon, and ending July 25 in Vienna, Virginia. Dylan has additional April dates in Macon, Georgia; Dothan, Alabama; and Tyler, Texas. His current performances include six tracks from the 2020 album Rough and Rowdy Ways, as well as classics like “Love Sick,” “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” “All Along the Watchtower,” “Man in the Long Black Coat,” and “Every Grain of Sand.” Spencer, whose debut album My Stupid Life came out in 2024, has toured with Jason Isbell and appeared on the CMA and ACM Awards. She is also set to open for Maren Morris with the Colorado Symphony at Red Rocks on July 19.
