Bullrich and Quirno clash over Luque Lecaro extradition

A public disagreement between Patricia Bullrich and Chancellor Pablo Quirno exposed internal tensions in Javier Milei's government over the extradition process for former Ecuadorian official Hernán Luque Lecaro.

Patricia Bullrich stated on social media that the extradition of Hernán Luque Lecaro had already been authorized. The former security minister accused Kirchnerism of granting him protection and noted that former Ecuadorian president Guillermo Lasso personally asked her a year ago to remove that benefit.

Hours later, Chancellor Pablo Quirno contradicted that account. He said the process remains pending judicial resolution and that authorities await the conclusion of all judicial instances to carry out the extradition in coordination with Daniel Noboa's government.

Luque Lecaro, former head of Ecuador's Coordinating Company of Public Enterprises, has been detained in Buenos Aires since February 2024 after an international arrest warrant in the alleged corruption case known as Caso Encuentro.
