Cage the Elephant releases new single ‘Beaches in Tennessee’

Cage the Elephant have released their first new music in two years with the track ‘Beaches in Tennessee’. The song marks a new chapter for the Kentucky band following their support slot on Oasis’ Live ’25 tour.

The track, released on July 13, was produced by Justin Raisen and SADPONY. Built around Brad Shultz’s guitar, it features his brother Matt singing the central line: “Somebody take me home / I’m not the enemy / I’m going back to those beaches in Tennessee.”

Matt Shultz described the song as a fictionalised account of a mental health crisis he faced in previous years. He said it symbolises moving past the experience, which included his 2023 detention in a hotel for carrying firearms licensed only in Kentucky and Tennessee.

The band’s first release on Big Loud Rock follows their run supporting Oasis. Matt noted the tour “reignited our fire to dream” and led the group straight back into the studio. Brad added that they are making “the best music we’ve ever made” and feel “the most inspired.”

Later this week the band is set to support The Strokes on the Milwaukee date of their Reality Awaits tour.
