COPARMEX proposes charging IEPS at gas stations to combat fiscal fuel theft

COPARMEX proposed that the SAT collect the IEPS directly at the country's 14,000 service stations to remove incentives for fiscal fuel theft.

He noted the SAT can supervise 14,000 stations because it already oversees 40 million taxpayers.

The business representative added that the change must be paired with effective volumetric controls. He also warned that the gasoline price cap could disrupt supply if it fails to reflect international market changes.

José Iñaki Zaragoza of CAAAREM said the fight requires participation from the entire logistics chain, including stronger U.S. oversight of fuel exports.
