DepEd launches mental health hotline for students

The Department of Education and the National Center for Mental Health have introduced a hotline to provide immediate support for students facing mental health issues.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara led the launch of the enhanced Learners TeleSafe Contact Center Helpline at General Tiburcio de Leon National High School in Valenzuela City. The service, reachable via #33733, connects directly to the NCMH Crisis Hotline for faster professional help.

The rollout included parallel events in Iloilo City and Cagayan de Oro City. Angara highlighted the importance of support under President Marcos, stating that every learner should know they are not alone.

The helpline also offers contact through 0945-175-9777, email, and Viber, with backing from PLDT. It aligns with the Universal Health Care Act and the Basic Education Mental Health and Well-being Promotion Act.

During the event, Angara visited support centers and observed peer training programs for students and parents.
