Downtown Boys, known for their raucous punk sound, have returned with news of Public Luxury, following up their 2017 album Cost of Living. The new record, due out June 26 on Sub Pop, was co-produced by band member Joey La Neve DeFrancesco and recording engineer Seth Manchester. It opens with the single 'No Me Jodas,' which translates to 'Don't Fuck With Me' and comes accompanied by a dynamic live video. Directed by John MacKay, the video stars Mariachi Internacional Tapatio de Alvaro Paulino and draws inspiration from Peru's 'chicha' music culture, as explained by singer Victoria Marie. She described it as capturing 'economics, work, partying, life, desire, and nightlife,' with the ethic summed up by chicha musician Chacalón as 'chamba y vacilón'—hard work and partying.
