Juan Carlos Morales will take over as acting general manager of XM after María Nohemí Arboleda steps down following more than 10 years to lead the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
XM announced that Arboleda decided to step down to take the post in the elected government of Abelardo De La Espriella. Morales, previously manager of the Centro Nacional de Despacho, will hold the position on an interim basis.
The appointment follows the company's bylaws, Law 143 of 1994 and the agreement between Ecopetrol and the Ministry of Finance. The board will begin the search for a permanent general manager.
XM praised Arboleda's tenure for its technical rigor and contributions to the reliability of the Sistema Interconectado Nacional. The statement noted her leadership supported the energy sector even during challenging periods.
