YouTuber Karl Jobst has filed a lawsuit against arcade gamer Billy Mitchell in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The pro se plaintiff accuses Mitchell of unauthorized appropriation of name or likeness, defamation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The suit was filed on April 6.
Jobst, an Australian YouTuber, is representing himself without a lawyer in the case. He claims Mitchell's conduct caused him severe emotional distress, including mental anguish, humiliation, and embarrassment. Among the evidence cited are Mitchell's posts on X, where he accused Jobst of scamming $200,000 through a GoFundMe, going bankrupt, and losing credibility. One such post reads: 'I LIED FOR FOUR YEARS, SCAMMED $200,000, WENT BANKRUPT, AND LOST EVERY SHRED OF CREDIBILITY TO MY NAME BUT AT LEAST I’M PROBABLY TOO MUCH OF A LAZY, BROKE, AND UNETHICAL SCUMBAG TO EVER FULLY PAY KING BILLY’S $1,000,000 AHHHHHHH I WIN!' followed by an image link.
