Leksands IF has signed American forward Josh Passolt to a one-year contract. The 30-year-old arrives from HK Nitra in Slovakia after helping the club in the previous campaign.
The announcement came on July 4 as Leksand continues to rebuild following its relegation to HockeyAllsvenskan. Passolt recorded 41 points in 57 games with Nitra last season.
Passolt expressed enthusiasm about joining the club. “My wife and I are really looking forward to coming to Leksand and for me to play for Leksands IF,” he said on the team’s website. He noted the club’s history, traditions and supporter base as attractions.
Assistant sports director Jesper Ollas highlighted Passolt’s character and playing style. “Josh is a player who plays with a lot of presence. He is a character who likes the important matches and to lead a team,” Ollas said.
Passolt previously played in North American leagues including the NCAA, AHL and ECHL before moving to Europe.
