توفي شرطي في ولاية مانيبور متأثراً بإصابته بطعنة خلال عملية لمكافحة المخدرات في منطقة ثوبال مساء الثالث من يونيو. وقد أُلقي القبض على المهاجم في صباح اليوم التالي.

تعرض الرقيب خ. سوريش سينغ، من كتيبة الاحتياط الهندية الرابعة، لهجوم من قبل أحد المحتجزين خلال العملية. قام المدعو محمد نوبي، الملقب بـ ماهيل والبالغ من العمر 25 عاماً، بطعن سينغ بسكين مما أدى إلى إصابته بجروح قاتلة قبل أن يلوذ بالفرار مع محتجز آخر. نُقل سينغ إلى مستشفى المقاطعة لكنه فارق الحياة فور وصوله. كان الفقيد عضواً في وحدة الكوماندوز التابعة لشرطة الولاية ومقرها في ثوبال. وأفادت شرطة الولاية بأنها ألقت القبض على المهاجم والمحتجز الآخر بعد فترة وجيزة من الحادث، حيث تمت عمليات الاعتقال صباح يوم 4 يونيو.
